ABCD qualification levels
To keep production costs manageable for you, we prefer to get involved at an early stage in the development process.
Based on our expertise, we are able to provide valuable advice on the design and manufacturing process. This means the most efficient manufacturing process for keeping costs manageable is already known before we start manufacturing for you.
At Witec, we apply ABCD qualification levels to any products we might manufacture for you. We determine the most effective level for you through discussion. Applying these levels is highly appreciated by our customers, because it immediately gives an obvious advantage in ease of manufacture and control of cost risks.
The levels are defined as follows:
A | Standard product with no measurement specifications. |
B | Standard product with measurement specifications. |
C | Critical product (exact-copy). |
| D | Supercritical product with high-end specifications (high-impact parts). |
A
Product groups where price and quality are important to a limited degree.This applies mostly to products ordered individually, intended for different markets (shipping, manufacturing, agriculture etc.)
B
Product groups calling for reproducibility and quality at a higher level. This applies mostly to forward-planned products used on production lines. This level calls for extra attention to quality inspection and reproducibility with high repeat rates.
C
Product groups calling for reproducibility and quality at a very high level. It sometimes applies to products with forward-planning and/or one-off orders calling for a high-level finish. Inspection is mostly performed using microscopes. Our personnel qualified for this product group are highly trained and fully understand the end-use application. All our C-products are subject to the exact-copy procedure.
D
Product groups calling for reproducibility and quality at an extremely high level. The ultimate function of the product is extremely high-risk, which means we consider D-products as high-impact parts. It sometimes applies to products with forward-planning and/or one-off orders calling for a very high-level finish. Inspection is mostly performed using microscopes. Our personnel qualified for this product group are highly trained professionally and fully understand the end-use application. All our D-products are subject to the exact-copy procedure. All our D-products are inspected using various procedures (CTQ/FMEA/CP/etc.).
Specially trained staff
Each qualification level demands specific expertise. Our staff work on the basis of their expertise and experience in one of the four levels. Witec pays great attention to staff training so that levels of expertise are guaranteed and last.
Additionally, our suppliers are kept continuously informed of the standards applying to the products at the various qualification levels. This ensures that they also supply product which meets the correct criteria.
Product processing
As soon as product is manufactured, it is packed for additional handling and transported in product bins of a specific colour. Thus, the handling required for each specific product is immediately clear to every employee.
